Responsible for the profitable operations of the assigned Dock facility and reports to the Fleet Manager - Kenai. In keeping with the mission and policies of Copper River Seafood’s, Inc., the Dock Foreman is responsible for implementing a cost efficient/effective Operation and implementing systems that assure repeatable success for offloading fish and supporting the fleet.  This includes Offloading of fish, QC, distribution, related logistics and accurate paper work.

 

The DF coordinates with other leads within the plant to ensure optimum communications. The Dock Foreman has a critical role in the safety and security of personnel and associated persons in or around the facility.  The DF serves as a back-up to the Fleet Manager, as needed.

 

The Dock Foreman is required to have knowledge of and assure the Dock is in compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations, as well as operating policies and procedures in keeping with customer and other company subscribed certification programs.

 

The responsibilities of the Dock Foreman include management of product flow, ensuring quality standards are met at each stage of offload, maintaining written documentation including standard operating procedures, overseeing appropriate and safe use of equipment, emergency planning and preparedness.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervising and directing dock employees.
  • Creating a healthy environment for Dock staff and fishermen.
  • Support the Fishing Fleet in the best interests of CRS.
  • Scheduling dock crews, monitoring performance.
  • Maintaining logs and files for compliance with state and federal agencies.
  • Recruiting and training production staff.
  • Coordinating dock schedules with other plant leads and other operations personnel at CRS.
  • Compiling and distribution of fish tickets and associated paper work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Salmon Industry working on docks.
  • Minimum of 3+ years progressively increasing dock management responsibilities, including recruitment, personnel management, supervision, reporting and scheduling.
  • Minimum of 3+ years with variety of wild seafood species including salmon, halibut, cod, etc.

 

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Strong written and verbal skills for report writing and training
  • Well-organized with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and activities.
  • Computer software and internet skills.  T Landings experience preferred.
  • Understand and adhere to all Federal and State regulations permits and reporting requirements.
  • Crane Certified

 

OTHER:

Position is based in Alaska, requires some travel and/or assignment to remote seafood/harvesting processing locations. Position open until filled.
