PRODUCTION MANAGER – PLANT OPERATIONS

POSITION PURPOSE

The Production Manager-Plant Operations is responsible for assisting the General Manager-Plant Operations for the profitable operations of the assigned production facility and reports to the General Manager-Plant Operations.   In keeping with the mission and policies of Copper River Seafoods, Inc., the Production Manager is responsible for planning and implementing a cost efficient/effective production plan and implementing systems that assure repeatable success for production of finished product.   This includes harvest, landings, off-loading, processing, quality control, cold storage, distribution and related logistics.   The Production Manager coordinates with production leads within the plant to ensure optimum communications and system efficiencies. The Production Manager has a critical role in the safety and security of personnel and associated persons in or around the facility. The Production Manager serves as a back-up to the General Manager, as needed.

 

The Production Manager is required to have knowledge of and assures the plant is in compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations, as well as operating policies and procedures in keeping with customer and other company subscribed certification programs. The responsibilities of the Production Manager include management of product flow, ensuring quality standards are met at each stage of production, maintaining written documentation including standard operating procedures, overseeing appropriate and safe use of equipment and emergency planning.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Manager – Plant Operations

(Locations: Anchorage, Cordova, Bristol Bay/Naknek, Togiak, Kotzebue)

•    Supervising and directing production employees.

•    Creating a safe and healthy working environment for production staff and support.

  • Scheduling production crews, monitoring performance, and work responsibilities.

•    Maintaining logs and files for compliance with federal, state, and local agencies.

•    Collecting and reporting of inventory of product, parts and supplies using INNOVA system.

•    Assist in recruiting and training of new and rehire production staff, following proper documentation and in compliance with all employment laws and regulations.

•    Coordinating production schedules with production plant leads and other CRS departments.

  • Compiling and distribution of production reports.
  • Accountability for plant recovery rates and consistent and high-quality metrics.
  • Responsible for asset management including dry inventory and plant equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years+ experience in Alaska food processing/manufacturing.
  • Minimum of 5+ years progressively increasing plant/manufacturing production management responsibilities, including recruitment, personnel management, supervision, budget development, reporting, production management and scheduling.
  • Minimum of 5+ years primary manufacturing experience with variety of wild seafood species including salmon, halibut, cod, crab, etc.
  • Associate Degree in Business or related experience preferred.

  

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Proficient at Excel, Word and PC office environment.
  • Strong written and verbal skills for report writing and training.
  • Well-organized with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and activities.
  • Strong computer software and internet skills.
  • Understand and adhere to all Federal and State regulations permits and reporting requirements.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employment law, recruitment, workers compensation, quality assurance and work and health safety necessary.
  • HACCP/SSOP and other certification credentials as needed.

 

 

OTHER:

Position is based in Alaska, requires some travel and/or assignment to remote seafood/harvesting processing locations.   Position open until filled.
