Job Description

Job Title: Logistics Assistant I                       

Department: Logistics     

Report to: Logistics Manager                          

Position Overview: The person occupying this position shall have the essential functions of:

  • Arrange for material and product movement company wide, document, and communicate all logistic and product details.

                            

Responsibilities:

  • Perform tasks and duties as directed by the Logistics Manager.
  • Achieve goals as set out by the Logistics Manager.
  • Oversee logistics movements from/to various locations; includes confirming carrier movement schedules, carrier shipment booking, bill of lading creation, producing custom labels/placards, email notification, tracking, and movement record keeping.
  • Maintain and provide hardcopy details of all shipments in transit.
  • Track and verify in-transit movement between facilities.
  • Track and verify movement of company supplies.
  • Produce summary cost reports.
  • Create FedEx and UPS shipments with carrier provided software systems.
  • Submit and track FedEx/UPS claims.
  • Completion of bills of lading.
  • Utilization of various online carrier software systems.
  • Arrange truck shipments from production facilities and cold storage locations.
  • Coordinate truck loading with loading dock personnel.
  • Arrange air shipment from production plant.
  • TSA (Training).
  • Accurately read product manifests from production operators.
  • Confirm product availability with inventory team.
  • Communicate container inventory with carriers.
  • Maintain logistics supplies for the Logistics Department.
  • Produce ID and/or security badges for employees.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Software to perform duties.
  • Perform other Logistics related duties as assigned.

 

Other Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point, and PC office environment
  • Ability to work independently and confidentially
  • Ability to prioritize projects and programs
  • Strong organizational skills

 

Job Requirements:

  • Very efficient with customer prospecting and follow-ups
  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint proficiency
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Highly organized individual
  • Ability to interact positively and form relationships with professionals inside and outside the company
  • Ability to work in an often ambiguous and always dynamic environment

 

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

 

Position Base: Anchorage, Alaska

Wage Rate: $16- $25 per Hour DOE plus benefits
