PRESS RELEASE

Copper River Seafoods, Inc. Launches “On The Line” Recruitment

How does an Alaska-based company, founded in Cordova and staffed by Alaskans (many who are born and raised in the State) step up its’ game?   They join the Hiring Alaskans Recruitment (HARP*) effort to tell the story of seasonal job opportunities and the importance of that experience to careers in professional food manufacturing right here in Alaska.

While Copper River Seafoods, Inc. recognizes that historically, the seasonal workers in fish processing have come from outside of Alaska since the earliest days of Alaska’s fishing history, the paradigm shift of a company that is based in Alaska, manufacturing and supplying fresh and frozen seafood, year-round for major national accounts offers unprecedented career opportunities for Alaskans.   For that reason,

crs-mkt-ads-nws-bbtimes-recruitment-ad-spring13-v2-ol.jpgCopper River Seafoods launched a 3-minute video called, “Careers At Copper River Seafoods Start On The Processing Line”. The video, located on their website, is designed to encourage Alaskans to think about ways they might consider seasonal summer jobs as the first step into careers in their Alaska communities. The initiative is coupled with ads being placed in regional newspapers across the state with links to the new, on-line job application as part of the Copper River Seafoods, Inc. 2013 summer recruitment program.

A year-round staff, based in Alaska, works in varied skills that include accounting, information technologies, graphic design, human resource development, grant writing, quality control, asset management and production systems, fleet management, traffic control, refrigeration, facilities management, equipment maintenance and more.   Many of these individuals started their careers by fishing, working on the fish processing line or are from fishing or agriculture-related families.

Copper River Seafoods, Inc. is a primary and secondary wild Alaska, premium seafood manufacturer, established in 1996 by 4 Cordova area fishermen. Currently, the company employs 435 (135 year-round and 300 seasonal) to process and market all species of wild Alaska seafood to national retail and food service accounts. It is headquartered in Anchorage supporting primary processing in Cordova, Togiak, Unalaska, Kenai and a finished food processing facility in Anchorage.
